I am a musician living, writing and playing in Brooklyn. This is a blog about my interactions with music.
I started the group B is for Baroness in LA in 2005, and now also play with the Brooklyn based old time orchestra Kotorino.
In 2001 I earned a Masters in Music from UT Austin. I was part of the small Ethnomusicology branch inside the music department, tucked away in a beloved corner of the building otherwise filled with composition majors and glorious band geeks. I taught South American music appreciation at the University of New Mexico, and then World Music and Music Theory at LA Trade Tech College where I directed a mashup of The Wiz, West Side Story and Guys and Dolls. It wasn’t long before I moved to New York, or Brooklyn actually, where I have been since July 2008.
